Don't Squander the Wander!

A refuge for all who are wandering through the wilderness and tethered to the truth

Jonah

Well, Jonah, we had a good run, me and you. We saw the potential, we saw the injustice, we tried to escape, and found ourselves back on the shore of destiny. We moved forward into the highways and byways, proclaiming what God put on our heart, all the while wearing our heart on our sleeve. Moving throughout the towns God assigned. Lord knows we tried to proclaim Your goodness, Jesus. To a people who we thought would never convert, regardless of whether we thought they deserve converting. Yet You move in Your ways, not our ways, God. You proclaim who is worthy to receive, we simply proclaim what and why they can receive any good thing.

Accept or reject. Two outcomes, a fifty-fifty chance of witnessing transformation. On a miracle day, people do the unthinkable and repent. Other times we watch as seeds sown refuse to grow, or shrivel up all together. In any case, everyone has been given the same opportunity to embrace the truth that they were bought with a price, and have a hope and a future. All have also been given the opportunity to hear that truth and reject it completely.

We choose how to respond to the situation at hand. Celebration and praise to the One who saves, either way, is what God commands. Yet sometimes, in the midst of miracles, we complain. Lord, forgive us.

We don’t get to see the end of the story this side of heaven. But, Jesus, You do. You know our story inside and out. You hold our future in Your hands. We might even sulk and sit in the heat, getting scorched in the blaze of our own making. Ignoring the provision and protection You provide. Even when we sit under that shade giving weed and complain. Lord, forgive us.

And here I am, sitting here wondering; will I stand tall, rejecting the hunch of defeat that has overtaken me for far too long? Here I am, seeing the victory. Feeling the victory. Aware that growth is ever upon us, until glory. Yet understanding that this season of holding Jonah’s hand is finally behind me. Purpose accomplished. Healing received. Ready for the next step of the journey.
